Cosette walked out onto the courtyard grounds, pulling her jacket closer around her shoulders. There was snow in the air and she loved the smell more than anything. She smiled and looked out at the grounds, dusted with frost and ready for the upcoming snow. This is why she loved this season, the smell, the hot chocolate, everything that made it so perfect. She adjusted her gold and red scarf over her neck and walked towards her favorite oak tree with the perfect slope for long term reading. She knew that there were plenty of places inside of the school to read, but something about the grounds made it so much better. She was a quite girl, most of the time she couldn't stand much company. Males would throw themselves at her for her veela blood and their girlfriends would get pissed off at her. Books gave her the company that she wanted without the annoying her senseless.
She relaxed against the tree, sighing contently when she fit in perfect against the tree. She pulled her knees up to her chest, her skinny jeans tucked into her boots providing all of the warmth that she needed, along with a navy blue peacoat. She was used to sitting outside and reading, so this was perfect for her. She opened her book to the folded page and started to read her novel.

his father had told him that his mother had named him adrian, just before she disappeared. he held resentment against her and decided to change his name. he was so young when he told people to start calling him rian. he found it weird when people called him by his full name. which would be the teachers at time, some let him get away with the name he had picked. rian changed out of his uniform and into a tee and a pair of jeans. going out for a walk might do him some good. he was more of a runner but he really didn't like running on snow or slick surfaces. there had been a time he had slipped and broken his arm. luckily it didn't take him to long to recover, but the process was definitively not fun at all. he grabbed his coat before venturing out. he had a couple of things to do before he settled down to do homework. his father had told him he was going to send him an owl about something. rian and his father usually talked things out but it was rather late when his father brought it up, he was already to go back to his final year at hogwarts. timing was something his father needed to work on. it was like telling someone you like them when they are already taken. not that that has happened to rian before. it appeared like he wasn't the only one who took up the opportunity to come outside. there wasn't much snow on the ground yet, but that didn't stop people from trying to form whatever was on the ground into a snowball. he almost didn't see the girl by the tree he was heading to take cover, from the random snow ball fight. last thing he wanted to do was get a cold."oh, sorry about that, didn't see you here."

It wasn't easy being part veela. Especially with her mother being full blooded, it made it hard to keep friendships and relationships were damn near impossible. That's probably why she stuck to herself so much. Most people thought she would be a snob anyway, why not add into the stereotype? Cosette let out a sigh of annoyance when she saw the flying snowballs a couple yards away from her. She knew that she couldn't blame them for enjoying their lives. She was easily annoyed by childish things, she tended to be more serious and that was probably because of all of the crazy things that happen when she gets too close to people. Her older sister always told her to embrace the attention to get what she wanted but she never could. It felt so wrong and terrible. She felt someone bump into her and looked up, she knew him from some dual classes, but only his face, not his name, "Oh, it's fine, I'm okay." She sat up a little bit and put down her book, "Avoiding the snowball fight as well?" She smiled and wasn't sure what to talk about with this male, he seemed nice and hopefully she would be able to have a conversation with someone without it turning weird.

his eyes caught sight of the person he had bumped into. at least he hadn't tripped over her or something. that would of been a tad bit embarrassing. last thing a guy wanted to do was embarrass himself in front of an attractive girl. he couldn't say the girl had struck him as familiar then again there were a ton of students that went to hogwarts. so there was a possibility that they could be in a class together. he figured he won't ask her about it, it would be kind of a mean thing to say. the last thing people want is to be forgotten or at least that's what he thought. he smiled at her in response. at least she didn't bite his head off over this little accident."well good, i hate to have hurt you in any way."he watched her move her book away from her."sorry, didn't mean to interrupt your reading."he said with a small chuckle."isn't it a bit to cold to be reading out here?"he asked her curiously."you must be crazy to be out here."he said jokingly. if you were moving you didn't get to cold, but after awhile you would start to fill the chill in the air. he grinned at her before opening his mouth to speak."yeah, it amazes me how they can even be having a snow ball fight."he said not sure if he should stay or go. he ended up crouching, not wanting to sit on the snow covered lawn."so what are you doing out here, reading?"he said with a small laugh."was the library packed."he said with a laugh.

She laughed when he said that he didn't mean to interrupt her reading, she shrugged, "Oh it's fine, I think I've read this story probably a thousand times." She held up the cover so she could see that it was Alice in Wonderland. She loved the story, falling down a rabbit hole and ending up in a crazy world. It's how she sometimes felt when she thought about her life. Started as a normal kid and then her abilities came in. Sure she was from a wizarding family, but it never really hit her until she was eleven and started at Hogwarts. Her family pretty much lived like muggles, except for when her parents would fight about something. She remembered the first time she ever saw her mother throw a fireball at the wall when she thought her father was cheating. Cosette had never seen anything like it and hid under the table, terrified that she would end up doing something like that too. Her parents found her hiding when they calmed down and explained what her mother was and that she probably wouldn't have to worry about anything like that. Thankfully, she only shot fireballs once and never could do it since. "I actually love the cold weather, it was too loud inside, everyone is going stir crazy from the snow I think." She loved reading outside, the smell of the snow mixed with the amazing scenery all around the school, it was perfect for relaxing. She was sitting on a folded blanket to keep her butt from getting cold and watched as he crouched down to talk to her more. She sat up, spread out the blanket fully and sat back down, patting the spot next to her, "You can sit down if you want." She was happy that she was having a good conversation with someone. She usually didn't talk to too many people. "The whole school was just packed, oh, I'm Cosette by the way, Cosette Devereux." She held out her hand for him so they could shake hands. She was raised by a very formal French couple so making a good first impression was drilled into her head. She knew his face, but his name and house was escaping her.

he laughed at her comment."it must be a really good book if you read that many times."he said as he looked at the cover the book she had been reading. rian couldn't say that it was a book that he could find himself reading. he had seen the muggle movies about this alice but the book never really had gotten his attention. he liked to read as much as the next ravenclaw but wonderland wasn't something he had on his mind to read. why read about wonderland when people were already living it. yeah for most it wasn't wonderful, but rian couldn't complain about his life so far. he nodded at her liking of the cold weather, he was rather fond of it as well, but only because it meant that he could stay inside, drinking hot chocolate or reading a book, playing chess or what not with friends. the activities outside were fun as well, but not for to long. last time he had gotten sick. he wasn't going to risk getting sick again, not if he could help it. it felt like someone had been sitting on his lungs. he didn't wish that kind of sickness on anyone. he understood where she was coming from. at times rian could be fairly dis-tractable and he hated it, especially when he would try to be doing homework or actually reading a book that didn't have anything to do with school."yeah, they way to excited, its like they've never seen snow before."he said with a chuckle as he watched her offer a place to sit, he gladly accepted it seeing as it was better than sitting on the snow or crouching."thanks."he replied with thanks before they continued talking. he smiled at her."nice to meet you cosette devereux, im rian stone."he said moving back a bit so the hand shake wouldn't be to strained."im sure we have classes together, seventh year right?"he asked her hoping he was right. hogwarts was rather a large school and people soon started to blend together. it was easier to keep track of the people in your own house. well most of the time."you're not in ravenclaw are you? im really bad with faces."he said with a laugh. it would of been easier if they had been wearing their uniforms.

Cosette knew it was a silly book, but she loved how interesting it was. She loved the various movies, all except the X-rated one a friend showed her once in an attempt to sleep with her. That movie started out all nice and fine, but turned very weird, very quickly. It made it impossible to watch the movie for a good three months after watching that, she laughed when he said that people were acting like they had never seen snow before, "Snow tends to bring out the children in most people. I remember when I was in primary school it was the greatest thing ever." Snow days when she could stay home with her big sister and enjoy some hot chocolate and go sledding. She smiled when he sat next to her and set her book back inside of her bag so she wouldn't seem rude, "Yeah, I'm a seventh year." she laughed when he asked if she was in Ravenclaw, "No, I'm in Gryffindor. I think we would know each other a little bit better if we were in the same house." They would have been sorted together and more than likely have spent some time together, "I have some friends in your house and year though, the Scamander twins? Lysander and Lorcan have been friends of mine for a few years now." She wasn't sure if they even knew each other, but she figured she might as well mention that they could have a friend in common. She wasn't sure what else they would have in common, other than a like of snowy weather and reading.

to think about the last book he had read, none came to mind. well at least not ones that he wanted to read. textbooks did not count. he figure he would search through his pile of books in his dorm. see which one he read last. for the moment sitting here and talking with cosette was fine. maybe it was time to go out and get a new book. drifting away from his thoughts he nodded in response to cosette."yeah, i can't wait till there's enough snow. im gonna build myself an igloo."rian said with a laugh knowing how childish he sounded. to be honest he had always wanted to build some sort of snow fort, but never really got the chance and the snow melted, he forgot about and other various thing distracted him as a child, from finishing it. alright he was getting better at guessing. he had managed to get one assumption right. so they were in the same year, it was obvious that they would have classes together. he really didn't notice people. apart from the ones that ended up talking to him in class."ravenclaw. gryffindor. i was close."he said jokingly."yeah, there's always that possibility."he said with a smile before hearing that she has friends in ravenclaw. before he even opened his mouth to say who they were cosette was already answering his question."oh, the twins. yeah i know who they are, but we don't really talk much..."rian said with a nod, its not that he didn't like them it was just that they never really had a chance to sit down and talk. there were just people you clicked with and that had happened to him with rosalie, even if they were not really close either."so what else do you like to do in the snow?"he asked her trying to keep the conversation going. he felt like an awkward silence fell after talking about the twins, of course that was probably his imagination.

Cosette smiled when he said that he wanted to make an igloo. "That sounds like an amazing idea, you're going to have to let me help you with that." She always wanted to make an igloo, but the last time she did, her big sister destroyed it. Her older sister was always trying to think about what people thought about her, being so concerned with what everyone thought all of the time was just way too exhausting for Cosette. She preferred just blending into the crowd and getting lost if she could. She laughed when he compared the two houses, happy that apparently Gryffindor and Ravenclaw were interchangeable. There would be a lot of stubborn Gryffindors and pious Ravenclaws who would go on a rant about how their house was superior to all of the others, "Well I almost ended up in Ravenclaw, last minute decision from the hat." She almost regretted bringing up the twins, because suddenly the silence between them got kinda weird and awkward. She smiled when he asked her about the snow, "Mainly I just like the things that go along with a good snow day, hot chocolate, warm boots, snowball fights. All of that good stuff." She tried to think of something else, "What about you, also feel free to mention other things you like to keep us from feeling awkward and we're becoming such good friends." She smiled, hoping that she would come across as playful with that comment instead of sounding bitchy like it easily could have turned. She was really trying hard to maintain some friendships in her final year.

he grinned at her when she had told him that she wanted to join in on making the igloo. he figured it would be easier if he had help and it seemed like he was going to have that help."great, great. you know what they say, two heads are better than one."he said with a chuckle."all we need is enough snow."he said looking around the grounds and then up at the sky before settling his gaze at her once more. to him being in different houses was just that. he never over analyzed why people were in different houses or thought that his house was better than everyone else. no, nothing of that. he thought that was just a waste of time. besides judging people whether it was for good or bad. either way people could be more than the label someone puts on them."really. that's cool."he said with a smile. he could of gone on about saying one of his relatives was in gryffindor but to be honest he couldn't remember who."as long as you get sorted into a house is all that matters. last thing you want is being left out with a place to sleep or a common room."he said jokingly. it had gone, a bit quiet. which tends to happen when one, you run out of things to say or two someone says something awkward. well it wasn't that awkward but it was enough to keep him quiet for a couple of seconds as he tried to come up with more conversational topics."hot chocolate is good any day."he said with a smile before laughing at her last comment."it is rather difficult to be my friend...but i think you might make it."he said jokingly as he thought of other things to talk about."well i guess we both like to read, i haven't read in a while suggest any good book? maybe not alice in wonderland though..."he said teasingly."well lets see, my likes....music, swimming but that's kind of hard to do right now...unless i wanted to catch a cold or something. i like muggle movies...uh its kind of hard to think of everything all at once."he said with a sheepish grin."oh i like quidditch, candy of course, my favorites would have to be chocolate frogs, but ordinary chocolate is good as well."

She wanted a lot of snow badly, there was just something so much fun about letting go and acting like a small child with a snow day. she wasn't about to act like that often, she tended to be too serious for her own good. Her sister often told her she had to loosen up and relax more, They seemed to like a lot of the same things, she really wanted to have a good friend by her side, sure she had Lysander but having more friends was always good, wasn't it? She laughed when he talked about not being sorted into any house and having to sleep in the common room, "Someone with multiple personalities or something. Get sorted into every house." She knew that probably wasn't all that funny, but she thought it would be kinda bizarre. She had a slight thing about weird things. She collected strange things that she found around the school, she was pretty sure when she graduated she wanted to learn how to make wands. She wanted to test different cores and see what worked and what didn't. Plus, being inside of a dark store without having people gawk at her seemed like a wonderful thing.
She listened to what he said about catching a cold. She spent some time in the hospital wing the year before when she had a slight breakdown, everything was too sterile there. Too clean. She hated the whole environment so much she swore she would never go back there. "Muggle movies? What's your favorite?" She loved anything with a lot of action and drama. Though she did have a secret obsession with Batman movies. From the cartoons to the live action movies she's pretty sure she watched them all.

rian remembered days full of snow when he was a child. he had been attending muggle schools when he had the chance and wasn't traveling with his father. during that time he would be home schooled...if you could even call it that seeing as he really didn't have a home. well he just moved a lot. anyways he was glad to have snow days where there was actual snow. staying inside watching something on the television or being let outside to make snowmen and the like. it was the snow fort that he could never finish. he chuckled softly."multiple personalities...hm maybe they would all get sorted into different houses."he agreed with her and thought the idea was rather funny then again a bit sad. it wouldn't be fun to have multiple personalities...or at least he didn't think so. too many movies made them, people with many personalities a bit bizarre and even dangerous. he was surprised to meet another person that liked muggle movies. most people he talked to didn't really like talking about muggle things as if they were something they should be talking about. he figured they were not raised around it like he was."i don't know, i've seen way to many."he chuckled."as for genre, i like horror, mysteries, something with zombies, but i can enjoy and action adventure types too. especially when they make comics into movies. x-men would be at the top of my list."he said with a nod not sure if she had heard of that movie before or not."what about you?"he asked as he stuck his hands in his pockets. he had forgotten his gloves in his room as he had left in a bit of a hurry.

She smiled when he mentioned the movies that he liked. She didn't know many people that would not only love muggle movies, but love the comic books that she secretly obsessed over. While she would always love classic Marvel, she was a Batman girl to the core and DC owned a slice of her heart. She knew that not a lot of girls read comic books, but she loved the story lines and the strong female characters. They were beautiful and could kick ass, how much better could that be? "I love X-Men, like a lot." She smiled and was happy that she met him, "But my favorite is Batman by far. Well, when he isn't tied with the Avengers." She couldn't contain the smile on her face that he was a bit nerdy like she was. She read a lot of comics, her room back at home was filled with them. She was pretty sure she's seen every comic made movie. She loved them all... except for a really bad Green Lantern movie they made. Terrible. "So Batman movies, especially the Dark Knight trilogy, um, V for Vendetta is also amazing and some comedies, like Little Miss Sunshine." She knew her tastes were all over the place but she couldn't help it. She was a strange girl and she loved it.

oh he hadn't met a girl yet that had admitted to liking zombie movies. what could he say they were oddly alluring to him. yes of course it would be terrible if that sort of thing happened. he shoved the thought away when he heard what she was into."are you for real."he said jokingly as he knew some girls liked comics but to be honest he didn't talk to much of them here. they had all been muggle girls he had randomly met when he went to watch an x-men movie."so what power would you pick if you could have one or two?"he asked her curiously. he nodded at her favorite."yes yes, how could i forget him. he's awesome. i like the movies that have him with robin as well."he said with a grin."yeah, im not a fan of the avengers...really. i like the justice league more."he said with a nod. yes even he watched the muggle cartoons. what was not to love. even a little kid he imagined how cool it would be to be able to have superpowers."cool. yeah i've only seen bits and pieces of the first one. its terrible i know. i just haven't gotten around to watching the triology. im not a terrible person i swear."he said with a laugh."never seen that one. it seemed interesting but yeah didn't capture my attention long enough to find it and watch it, but comedies a great. isn't that the one with like the dead grandpa. i know terrible that's the only thing that i remember about that movie."he said with shake of his head."shaun of the dead. it has zombies and its actually very funny. its the only zombie movie i've seen with a happyish ending."he said with a smile.

She had to think, that was a really good question. It was something that she thought about every time she watched any of the movies, "I kinda like Emma Frost, she's one of those bitches who you love to hate, and hate to love. She has the telepathic powers that are amazing, but the diamond form which as far as I can see if almost equal to Logan's healing abilities." And that would seal it that she was a nerd. She loved cartoons, she mainly got into them because it drove her sister crazy that she would much rather spend time in a comic book store than putting on makeup or going to parties. "If you like Robin you have to see the last one! Dark Knight Rises? And Selina Kyle is drop dead perfect in that one! Much better than Halle Berry." She had such love for the actress who played her after that movie, even thought about dying her blonde hair dark brown after watching that movie. She smiled when he said that V for Vendetta didn't capture his attention, "It's definitely story heavy, try the comic if you want something with a faster plot. They had to do a lot of background stuff for it." She laughed when he asked if Little Miss Sunshine was the one with the dead Grandfather, "And the little girl dancing to Super Freak, that might be my favorite part." She was really happy talking to him, now that they found this big unifier. "Haven't you seen Zombieland? Guy got his Twinkies, guy gets the girl, seemed like a pretty happy ending to me." She was having a pretty good time hanging out with him. "What about you, what ability would you want?"
